The QUICK 499D is a compact digital surface resistance meter for ESD control, material testing and quality assurance. It measures the surface resistance of antistatic and insulating materials and can also determine the resistance between the surface of an object and ground. Typical applications include ESD workstations, electronics manufacturing, incoming inspection, technical service and quality control.<\/p>\n
For direct surface resistance measurements, the QUICK 499D is placed on the clean surface of the test object. Two integrated electrodes on the rear of the instrument provide direct contact with the material. Pressing the TEST button starts the measurement and the resistance value is shown on the digital display. No separate external measuring electrodes are required for this type of test.<\/p>\n
For resistance-to-ground measurements, the supplied test lead is connected to the GROUND socket and attached to a suitable grounding point using the alligator clip. Connecting the test lead disconnects the right-hand integrated electrode from the measuring circuit.<\/p>\n
The measuring range extends from 10^3 to 10^12 ohms. The instrument uses the ASTM D257 measurement method. The display also provides useful operating information: bAtL indicates low battery voltage, CALE indicates that calibration is required, while Lr and Hr identify values below or above the intended measuring range.<\/p>\n
With dimensions of 73 x 130 x 35 mm and a weight of approximately 0.2 kg, the QUICK 499D is easy to carry between different ESD work areas. The carrying case provides protected storage for the instrument and test lead. Power is supplied by one 9 V 6LR61 battery, which is not included.<\/p>\n
